Smocking

Smocking Smocking is created by first pleating the material. These folds are held together by regularly-spaced threads onto which the material is gathered.

After the material is pleated, it is further decorated by hand sewing a design or pattern into the pleated area. A decorative thread, such as embroidery thread, can be used to complement the colors in the garment.

Smocking is used on gown style 114.
